My middle school students are curious and question events/actions of people in our society. Their inquiry can be through a simple question presented to a trusted adult or sometimes evolve into a class discussion or activity. One way that I can successfully achieve this is through providing independent reading books that will foster discussion.
I would like to provide LGBTQ+ graphic novels for my students so that they can enjoy stories that educate and encourage empathy for others.
My students will expand their understanding of the LGBTQ+ community, the challenges and issues, and encourage potential allyship for their peers. These books will be celebrated during Pride Month and beyond.
