My Students

Our middle school has a diverse student population that includes students from five school districts. More than one-third of our middle school students come from low-income households. Many students struggle with reading issues and read below grade level. Additionally, it can be difficult to engage students while still having them think critically. Our amazing, diverse students are eager to improve and have the drive to succeed! Our students need diverse, high-interest, and age-appropriate books.

My Project

Our amazing, diverse students are eager to grow and have the drive to succeed! All students need to feel seen and represented in their school and in their learning resources.

Our students need diverse LGBTQ+ books for our reading classroom.

Students need to feel represented in our school and in the learning materials in our classroom. The books will improve the resources available in our classroom library for students who would like more information on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender identity and history. The books will aid students to better understand themselves and their important place in the world. In addition, the books will help all my students see the value and worth of all individuals in society. These effective resources will enhance our ever growing classroom library and provide engaging books for ALL my students.
