School is going to look very different this year. As kindergarten is my students' first experience with formal education, I am determined to make this experience as positive as possible. My five- and six-year-old students need actual materials to learn with and from. I am going to be teaching them from a screen, for at least some of the school year, and need to make that experience as meaningful as possible. These leveled beginner reader books will give them as close to the in-class experience as possible. We will use them in virtual small group lessons, individual lessons, and students will practice fluency by reading them on their own.
Our school is diverse in every sense of the word and it is important to me that each student has what they need to make learning at home as effective as possible.
I strive to give them the environment and tools to best meet their needs. They deserve the best start to their education and the foundation to help them succeed. They are eager to learn with all the tools I give them.
I am asking for leveled readers to distribute to my kindergarten students to help them learn to read. Teaching kindergarteners to read virtually is going to be a big challenge, but I am up to the task. I will be able to use these leveled readers in small reading groups and individual lessons. Students will eventually be able to read them independently, which is very exciting.
I am trying to make our virtual learning as close to in-school learning as possible.
When distributing these to my students, I am going to make sure they get books on their level and that will help them improve their reading skills. Bob Books are great because they follow predictable patterns that students pick up on. This helps them gain confidence when reading and do more than they expected.
