I am always hunting for ways to make learning the standards more interesting and relevant for my students.
I aim to provide hands-on experiences to help level the playing field for my neurodiverse learners.
Project-based learning opportunities allow ALL of my students to engage in our learning more effectively and persevere when the standards get tough. The following bulleted points highlight ways I can make this happen:
Countertop Oven: Cooking is a high-interest task that helps kids persevere in mastering challenging standards including fractions, text features, sequencing, problem/solution, and cause and effect.
Electric Cardboard Cutter: cutting through cardboard for the kids can be difficult and time-consuming. The wait time can be long depending on the project. These electric tools make the task a cinch! This investment would help us complete more engineering design projects, which in itself is something to celebrate; additionally, the kids would be able to continue to practice: measurement, shape attribute analysis and manipulation, critical thinking through analysis, and problem/solution work.
Desk Dividers: Frankly, I added these on because ours are old and falling apart. They’re awfully expensive, too. We use them almost daily. I would be ever so grateful to receive a new set to use!
