Leveling the Playing Field: Teaching Organization for Behavior & Schoolwork
Help me give my students tools to learn how to organize school work, and behavior. With an increase of students identified with Autism in the general education setting, educators are finding different strategies to help with focusing.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I work with students who were identified or in the process of being classified as a student with an educational disability. Most of the students have difficulties focusing, especially when taking tests. Students and their families do not have the resources, nor the education to help the students use other accommodations or modifications to help students focus, and concentrate.
Our students should be given an opportunity to learn in an environment that suits their learning difference.
Not every student can learn in a traditional setting, or with traditional furniture, and/or equipment.
My Project
In working with the special education population, I've learned that they are students who can learn but may need to learn new strategies or ways to manage behavior or school work.
Teachers and students alike can use the support from the professionals outside of the classroom who can recommend different strategies/and or have supplies for different difficulties.
The sticky notes will increase positive behavior, to promote student engagement and positive behavior during class. The digital watch is for a student with Autism who is frequently asking the teacher for the time during instruction. The chewable necklaces and seat are for students who have difficulty focusing, and/or are frequently asking for food, or eating food from the floor. The binders and folders are for students who have difficulty organizing school work. The fidget toys are to help the students who have difficulty focusing in class, and I consider to be multi-tasked.
