This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

At our all-girls school on the West Side of San Antonio, sports aren't just about winning games—they're a lifeline to confidence, leadership, and opportunity. But, too often, our Latina students are left on the sidelines due to a lack of access to basic athletic gear. While volleyball is one of the fastest-growing sports for girls in the U.S., Latina girls remain significantly underrepresented, especially in competitive and club-level programs.

We're requesting essential athletic items—socks, moisture-wicking undershirts—to make sure our girls have what they need to participate, practice, and play with dignity.

These basics help eliminate a small but powerful barrier: the feeling of being “less than” because you don’t have the right gear.

Every girl deserves to feel confident and equipped when she steps onto the court. Your support empowers young Latina athletes, affirms their place in sports, and helps break the cycle of exclusion—one practice, one serve, one game at a time.
