This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We have some of the most hardworking students in our city! We are a low-income district. Everyone who attends our school receives free lunch. They walk into the classroom every day eager and ready to learn. They do not come to class with much background knowledge. As a teacher, I bring as much background knowledge to them via the internet or oral read alouds. My students have such an eagerness to learn and expand their knowledge.
My Project
We currently have two sets of leveled readers that we share amongst multiple grade levels with multiple classes in each grade. The class set of leveled readers in this project would allow me to have access to an entire set of leveled readers. My students would no longer need to share books with other classes to improve their reading skills. My students are eager to read a book after last year when they read most of their books online due to Covid. They love turning the pages and reading independently.
