My Students
Math...a universal language that many students are able to achieve and demonstrate success. Learning the English language and phonetics is a task that can be difficult for students who speak other languages. The students in my classroom come from countries such as Nepal, Somalia, Syria, Burma, Ethiopia, and Congo. Our elementary school is the neighborhood school where our families feel their child is receiving the best education from some of the best educators. This is where the learning begins for our students and families.
My Project
Working with students who are refugee English Language Learners, reading is a fundamental skill that is needed in order to gain the vocabulary and phonetics needed to be successful readers. Many of my students lack the basic resources such as books, having a leveled readers set opens up a new world of reading exposure and gaining knowledge about the world around them. My students are hard workers who want to learn and enjoy reading new books in class. This leveled reading set would be beneficial to not only reading success but allow students to feel confident with reading especially, when it's book on the student's literacy level.
