Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

All of my students are full of energy and have an excitement for learning. They appreciate the little things, which makes teaching so amazing. I can show my class a picture of something to simple, and they come up with tons of questions and observations. They work hard and they love to learn.

My 26 students are amazing kids and aim to always have a growth mindset.

My school is a Title I school and we all work as a team. We strive to see growth in each and every one of our students and, in order for that, they need to receive the best education and differentiated instruction. I believe I could make that difference in each of my first graders, and I am excited to see what the growth and hard work my class accomplishes this year and future years.

My Project

As a fourth-year teacher, I am still trying to gain as many read aloud books as I can that will teach my students life lessons! I have been working extra hard this year to get my students to become readers and enjoy reading. Our class library has mostly fiction stories, so I would like to expand my classroom library to add some nonfiction books for a unit study!

Having a collection of nonfiction books, at their levels, will give the students an opportunity to learn new facts and have a love for reading.

I have been playing nonfiction read aloud books on YouTube for the kids to listen to, but I would like the kids to have a chance to have their own leveled books in their book boxes to read and enjoy. I am hopeful that nonfiction books will encourage the kids to read more and learn about topics/ animals they are interested in!
