My Students
I teach a diverse group of first graders in a self-contained classroom at a public school in Brooklyn. My students are curious, creative, and enthusiastic.
As my students enter first grade in the fall, they deserve to be immersed in a literacy-rich classroom that encourages and supports reading, writing, speaking, and listening through authentic print and digital texts.
My students have a variety of developmental and learning disabilities that impact them as learners. Their unique learning needs are nurtured and supported throughout the school year.
My Project
My students need an inviting leveled classroom library that is stocked with engaging fiction and nonfiction texts that match their unique interests. To make these books accessible to students, we need bins that will organize this classroom library to facilitate a fun book shopping experience.
With this project, I hope to create a classroom library that ignites a passion for reading in my students.
iPads will allow students to have a 21st century learning experience, where they engage in digital texts through online reading programs. Headphones will allow students to listen to books read aloud to them, building their comprehension and fluency.
Beanbags will make the classroom library a cozy spot for students to get lost in a book.
