My Students
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” -Dr. Seuss. We need books to read, learn and go! A leveled class library will help each student read on a level that meets their individual needs.
My students are 5-6 year old Kindergarteners.
We live in a Military town in southeast Georgia. This means that many students come and go out of our school yearly. We are also a Title 1 school. Our school has become one of the best in the area through hard work and dedication. Our students continue to make great gains despite economic disadvantages.
My Project
Not only do my students need to learn how to sound out words to become readers, they also need to know how to comprehend what they are reading. Guided reading groups are key in teaching students how to comprehend what they are reading. In Guided reading groups, students will work with a teacher in a small group reading text that is designed to be on their level. Leveled texts are an important aspect for guided reading.
By having a leveled library, I will be able to provide students the chance to have a hands-on learning experience.
Students will learn to read on their individual level and thrive because of it.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
