This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a small school located in Southern California in South County San Diego, close to the US-Mexican border.

Many of the students are English Learners and leveled books are desperately needed in order to provide literature that all students can access.

The school only has limited book sets, and most of the books are old, outdated, and not appropriate. I'm hoping to build my library and provide the students with fiction that will enrich their book club experience.

My Project

I wasn't able to take my school library with me when I moved from Portland, Oregon to San Diego, and now I am teaching in a small charter school in Chula Vista, CA in which many of the fiction books are old, outdated and falling apart. These students are in desperate need of sets of fiction books, especially since the majority of the students English Language Learners. I am in need of award winning fiction at a variety of levels so we can begin our first Book Clubs! If there is any way you can help by donating to my Donors Choose, or in any other way, my class would very much appreciate it!
