This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a special day teacher at a Title I school, which means most of our students come from low income households. My students all have IEPs and their eligibilities include autism, SLD, and OHI.

My students are creative, funny, and full of questions.

I want to be able to give my students not only an education, but an experience while getting their education.

My students are hard workers who deserve to have a chance to succeed, and also be able to experience things that they are not always exposed to.

My Project

These books would make a huge difference in my students' learning, by giving them the confidence to read a book independently. These books are about things my students are interested in, so they will be more likely to pick up one of these books and want to read it. Having leveled reading books give students the opportunity to pick up a book and feel comfortable reading without feeling like they are not as smart as their peers. In my classroom I have a wide variety of students, all with ranging abilities, so having leveled readers would benefit my students substantially.
