Leveled Books for Classroom Library

Help me give my students books for the classroom library. Right now we do not have a classroom library. It would be helpful to have books in the classroom for ESL students to practice reading in English.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. de Lara - Staunton's classroom raised $811

My Students

Our school is in an urban setting attended by over 900 students. About 70% of students receive Title I funding thus, 100% of our students are on free and reduced lunch program.

My ESL students come from different backgrounds, countries, cultures, and experiences.

They all are eager to learn and have the potential to realize their goals with the necessary tools needed to achieve those goals.

With a rich classroom library, greater amounts of reading frequency using diverse reading materials helping ESL students attain greater levels of reading achievement.

My Project

A classroom library is important. A classroom library will give ESL students access to books for frequent reading and to use during literacy centers. Students will become successful and enthusiastic readers with specially selected books for every reading level!

Research has shown that the more time children spend reading, the better readers they become.

Furthermore, children learn to read by reading and I want to promote this skill by providing reading materials in my classroom and by reading to my students.

Please support me and this endeavor and you will not only help one student read but many more students in the coming years. Having books in the classroom will foster student conversations about the books they are reading. Reading and talking about books they read will improve student literacy and comprehension and will contribute to them being successful learners.
