My Students
My diverse twenty-eight first graders are the most eager learners I have ever met. These six- and seven-year-olds come to school every day with a desire to learn despite the many obstacles they face. For one, our school is over a hundred years old, so the building we work in has many issues. Our school is in a high poverty district with little support for technology, books, and necessary classroom supplies.
No matter what, my students are hardworking and dedicated, and they strive to be excellent model citizens.
It is because of these extraordinary students that I work as hard as I do to provide them with the best opportunities. They deserve it!
My Project
My classroom library needs a facelift to support my English Language Learners. In my classroom, 32% of my students speak Mandarin, Cantonese, or another language. To help support my learners, I really need help purchasing nonfiction and fiction high-interest leveled books.
I want my students to love reading, but it is extremely hard when they are reading the same books over and over again because of the lack of resources.
Your wonderful donation will help me change this for my English Language Learners and beginning readers. I will be able to update my library with books that are fun and engaging while also allowing my students to feel successful because the books are on their level.
