My Students

In our high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. In response to the many challenges they face, I am looking to provide my students with fun and meaningful learning experiences within my classroom. My students love to move, read, and learn.

My students work so hard to learn and are so helpful!

I work in a high poverty area in South Carolina where many students struggle to receive the resources they need to thrive. Every student at my school and within our district receives a free breakfast and lunch. These struggles may prevent them from getting ahead early in life. When they walk in the door of my classroom, I focus on their potential for growth while they are with me. This project will help give my students the supplies and resources they need to become more successful within the classroom and try to give them the life skills they need to succeed in life! I try to have a positive influence in their lives at school to help inspire and encourage them to become lifelong learners.

My Project

These letters will provide my students with opportunities to have meaningful, hands on learning experiences with literacy. Letter manipulatives are a wonderful tool that help support struggling readers.

These letters will allow students to have tactile learning experiences with words and promote letter and sound knowledge.

They will help students to be able to identify vowels from consonants quickly and accurately.

It will also help students to see patterns in words more easily including CVC (consonant- vowel-consonant), CVCe words, as well as being able to identify base words. Knowing these patterns and how words work helps build better readers!
