In our fifth-grade classroom, students are currently working at individual desks. While this setup may seem typical, my goal is to create a space that encourages conversation and collaboration around learning.
My students thrive when given the chance to share their ideas and thinking with their peers.
Research shows that students learn best when they are actively engaged, and one of the most effective ways to achieve this is through student discourse. By replacing individual desks with tables, I can foster an environment where meaningful conversations are a natural part of the learning process. Additionally, chair pockets will help students keep their materials organized and easily accessible throughout the day.
