Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Many of the students I serve come from low income, 1st generation, or migrant family backgrounds. These students are referred to me for help with mental health struggles ranging from PTSD, Trauma, depression, etc. I notice students going without eating due to the cultural differences in American school lunch versus cultural food. Other students come from homeless or low income backgrounds. The snacks aid the students ability to focus and the art supplies helps them work through trauma they have not yet gained the language to express! I am a true believer in breaking generational cycles and hope are as well. Help me in providing options to many children who often don’t get extra choices in life!
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
