My students need 26 Scholastic Video DVDs to help with literature connections in the music room. Many of these stories can be sung: Wheels On the Bus, Trashy Town, etc.

My Students

I have 500 Kindergarten-5th grade students in Kansas. I try to find new and interesting ways to help my students learn using music because it is highly accessible for all students, especially those with physical and cognitive challenges.

My students adore, and benefit from, learning about new people, places, and concepts in many ways.

One terrific way is through the Scholastic Video Collection. Unfortunately my budget for each school year is $50, and there is little opportunity to create a media library with musical connections.

My Project

I would like to buy 26 DVDs to start a media collection that could be used throughout each and every school year, benefiting more than 300 of the students that pass through my door each week. This collection will help my students make cross-curricular connections, give me another way to promote literacy in music class and allow the students to sing story songs like The Wheels On the Bus, Dem Bones, Over In the Meadow, etc.

Your help will make it possible for my students to have a media library available that will help to further their literacy skills and make numerous connections between all of the subjects they study throughout the day.

The DVDs will be a re-usable tool that will be beneficial to a very large number of students.
