it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are self-motivated and are very eager to learn in spite of the challenges we are facing right now. Through our online classes, they are able to access quality education from home. Even though they live in a poor town like Deming, they are dreamers who love to explore new skills and see the world. I love our time sharing about each other’s culture and background online by visual presentations.
My Project
As students grasp their way into learning during this unprecedented time, I want to make sure that they are having fun in the learning process. Therefore, providing them with interactive tools and activities will improve their engagement with the lessons brought to them and are being assigned to do. This year, we are reading a novel, and it has been a struggle engaging the students into the reading process. The anxiety that the pandemic has brought to them resulted into them being disengaged and unmotivated.
With these video cameras and available technology, I can provide them an interactive way of engaging with the lesson making learning and reading FUN and COOL!
As a post-reading project, students are asked to create a video log or vlog about the themes, conflicts, characters, etc that they have learned about in the novel. Most of my students are already excited to do the project knowing that they will get to experience new tools and technology in the classroom.
