This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are about to dive into an exciting real-world economics simulation called the Trading Game! To bring this lesson to life, I’m requesting a variety of small, tangible items that will be used in sealed paper bags for students to trade. These items will help students experience firsthand how markets work, why people trade, and how personal satisfaction and value can change based on opportunity and negotiation.

Each student will receive a mystery bag containing one or two unique items—some highly desirable, others less so.

The fun begins when students open their bags, assess how happy they are with what they received, and begin strategizing how to improve their situation through trade. As the game progresses, they’ll navigate trade restrictions, practice persuasive communication, and reflect on economic concepts like voluntary exchange, opportunity cost, scarcity, incentives, and subjective value.

With your help, I’ll be able to fill each bag with engaging, low-cost items like small toys, snacks, school supplies, novelty items, and a few “goofy” or “undesirable” surprises to add challenge and realism. These materials will make the learning experience hands-on, memorable, and impactful. Thank you for supporting a project that turns economic theory into a classroom adventure!
