This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

When describing what I love concerning the amazing students I see, the word "Resilient," is only a small reflection of their strength. My students have faced so many difficult challenges at such a young age and yet show much compassion for their fellow classmates and faculty staff. In the demographic I serve, more than half of the students are from low-income homes. Meeting the need for mental health within this school has been underserved. My desire is to create an atmosphere where the children feel safe and meet the needs of those who are struggling with ADD/ADHD, Anger, and Grief.

The material is aimed to meet the sensory needs and encourage the children to engage in therapeutic therapy.

Can you see it? How does it feel? What do you hear? Your feelings are important. We will use the material to enhance our therapeutic sessions. The rug, fidgets, and seats are colorful for my young students as well as meet the sensory need of my little/big students that are struggling with staying focused. Music/light therapy creates a relaxing environment that will aid the students to share their emotions.
