I work with amazing preschoolers who have communication delays. Though many of them struggle with speech, they are full of ideas, joy, and determination. What they need are the right tools to help their voices shine.
Each item in this project was chosen to support speech and language development through play.
The water mat and rainbow stacking toy encourage turn-taking, color words, and requests. Giant playing cards make games exciting and help practice social language like commenting and answering questions. The talking flash cards and cactus provide fun ways to model sounds and vocabulary. The Seek-a-Boo memory game builds attention, listening, and naming skills.
For my students who are nonverbal or just learning to speak, the voice recording buttons allow them to participate by sharing greetings or making requests. The Alphabet Acorns set and Hide-n-Go Moo help with naming, sorting, and building vocabulary. Finally, the Kidoozie ball drop motivates turn-taking and simple requesting in an exciting, engaging way.
