Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My goal this year is to create a Thinking Classroom. Instead of students just sitting at their desks and working independently on math problems, my goal is to get them out of their seats, working collaboratively on solving math problems. Fortunately, I have whiteboards. What I need is more materials like dry erase markers, erasers and folders to keep a record of completed work. A foldable, writeable laptop will help me mobile as I will be able to walk about the room helping students in need.
Using whiteboards in a collaborative setting can help engage students in meaningful math discussions.
My students are eager and hungry to learn. They enjoy learning independently but also learning from one another. Using whiteboards and having gallery walks of student work provides opportunities for all students to have a voice. Your support will help me provide the instructional support I need to help my students be successful.
