My Students

Help us develop our foundational skills so we can dive deeper into our understanding of mathematics.

No more worksheets and busywork!

We are looking for creative and exciting ways to practice counting, patterns, shapes, and basic operations! My class is full of 20 kindergartners who are creative, hardworking, and excited about learning. We have worked hard to build a classroom community that values the individual and promotes collaboration. We are a charter school in Oakland's Fruitvale neighborhood. Our school provides a safe learning environment and a high quality education for all students.

My Project

One of the most significant tasks of an educator is to ensure that all student needs are being met. Learning can be enhanced by varying the type of instruction, whether it's whole group, small group, or independent lessons and this project includes resources for enhancing each instructional setting. Some of the resources are learning centers, which engage students in learning that can be both independent and collaborative. Students will also be exposed to multiple representations of essentials mathematical concepts. These resources will also help me develop as an educator, increase the rigor of instruction, and create meaningful learning opportunities. Kindergartners are more than capable of critical thinking and diving deep into their knowledge. The new educational texts will guide me through dynamic (whole group) math conversations with students, as we problem solve and explain our reasoning.

Many students do not have access to a high-quality mathematics program.

The resources in this project support a dynamic learning environment, where each students is receiving the instruction they need to be successful. This is an investment in the future of many East Oakland students.
