My Students
I teach in a high poverty school, with the large majority of my students receiving free or reduced lunch. I am a special education resource teacher, serving students in both 3rd and 4th grade. I currently work with 20 students, with up to 10 in my classroom at a time.
My students are kind, enthusiastic and very hard workers.
In order for them to continue to make progress, I need to meet their learning needs. The students in my classroom are very motivated by the use of technology, and I am always looking for new ways to involve technology in our daily routine. However, due to a lack of funding, I am not always able to supply them with the resources or supplies that we need.
My Project
My students are all extremely hard workers, but sometimes their sensory or social emotional needs get in the way of them meeting their goals. We are working on being able to meet our goals through the use of a variety of sensory objects and self-management skills.
With the use of the Lego Emotions set and other building sets, my students will be able to find new ways to express how they are feeling.
My students are not always comfortable telling me when they feel sad, confused or angry, so it is important that they have alternative ways for them to express themselves. In addition, the wobble chairs will help my students who need to be able to move when they are working.
By having these materials available for my students, they will be able to work to their full potential and develop valuable self-management skills that will help them to further succeed in school.
