Help me give my students the ability to practice fluency with the Write Answer boards. It will allow them to flash their answers and actively participate in instruction. Guided reading level book sets will allow reading practice.
I currently teach 20 wonderful, intelligent, curious first graders ready to explore the world.
Though it has only been a few months, my students and I have shared experiences that will connect us for ever. Most of my students unfortunately do not have both parents in their lives and COVID-19 has effected their homes and lives. They have experienced a lot of loss at their young age. Though they are going through tough times at home, my students come in bright and early ready to learn.
My first grade students have high energy, and are very silly but they take their learning seriously. I have instilled in them that education is key and learning how to read, write, and do math are the foundations of their learning. Many of them want to be chefs, police officers, and football players. I even have one who would like to be dog trainer. My students have bright futures ahead of them and I want to do everything in my power to strive for greatness!
My Project
5, 4, 3, 2, 1...!!! Lift Off!
My classroom this year is space/rocket themed and I often discuss with to my students that we have to take off in our "learning rocket".
The materials I chose for this project will further my students' knowledge. Guided readers are extremely important in the foundations of reading in First Grade. Though technology has driven a lot of instruction and activities, I believe students need to hold and read books that are on their level. I want the ability to practice decoding and fluency in small group effectively with using these materials.
My class loves math and want to show me what they know right away. The handheld dry erase boards with better allow them to actively participate in instruction and I will be able to quickly check for understanding.
All the materials requested for my project will help further the learning of my first graders and allow them to continue to shoot for the stars.
