Let's Table This Discussion: Drum Pad Tables for Percussion Class

Help me give my students the best possible in-class percussion experience with materials to create two drum pad tables.

My Project

This year we are trying something different at our school. Based on record-high enrollment in band for this year, we decided to run a percussion ensemble class. This presents a serious need: we need more surfaces to drum on. We have two functional snare drums, and a handful of rubber drum pads, but it's very difficult to find a spot to put a drum pad in my room. I foresee a lot of students waiting around when they should be actively working their skills.

I am worried that I won't have enough spaces for my percussionists to perform in class.

I want to build two 6-foot tables and adhere a rubber surface to the top for snare drum technique practice. This should allow at least 16 of my students to use the tables at a time, which will provide an optimal 50-50 split at any given time between drums and mallet instruments. This will also allow my percussion students in my four other band classes greater flexibility in snare technique practice arrangements.
