This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

One size does not fit all! I serve children from many backgrounds, with different learning strengths and needs. My teaching must be flexible and individualized. I meet with my students individually and in small groups so I can vary my teaching to create the best learning experiences for them.

My students are precious first graders who are eager to learn and grow!

Our school is a small,rural school Our enrollment totals in at around 400 students ranging from pre-k through sixth grade. My students live in area of high poverty. Approximately seventy five percent of my students qualify for free or reduced lunch. They are very hard working and their families are extremely supportive despite their economic shortcomings. My students all have an overwhelming desire to learn and want to make the most of their time in my class.

My Project

If you walked into my classroom during reading or math you would see students throughout our class working on a variety of activities (math and reading) in different types of groups (individual, pairs, small groups, etc... ) While my students are independently working, I am pulling children to work with me both individually and in small groups to focus on specific skills that target specific skills and needs.

We currently do not have a "designated" area or table where we can meet.

A horseshoe table would give us specific area to meet with a minimum of loss of instructional time and make the most of group times. Students will be able to work more independently in centers and small groups as well as increase their self esteem as they become better students.
