I teach at a Title I school that is located in an area of New York City where there is high poverty. Many students come from low-income homes where little or no English is spoken. Students also receive free breakfast and lunch. Students in my school truly love learning.
My school has a social and academic climate that provides students with a strong feeling of belonging.
This school year, I will be teaching 32 eager 4th graders of mixed abilities and backgrounds. I will make every effort to help my students develop the proper skills needed for college, the work force, or everyday living.
My Project
My students will be able to have a productive and exhilarating school year if they are provided with adequate materials to use. During Writing Workshop, they will be able to follow our writing process (from choosing a seed idea to publishing and celebrating their work) by using pens, pencils, and writing paper. They will use mechanical pencils to write neatly with a point, and they will not waste time sharpening their pencils. Students will have an enjoyable experience by using the design writing paper to publish their work. Some of their writing pieces will be realistic fiction stories, persuasive essays, and poems full of figurative language. They will also be able to create posters, reports, and projects by having these supplies at the tips of their fingers. Our room will be decorated with the students' work that they will be proud of and become inspired. The pocket charts and clips will be used to display vocabulary words in our classroom that students will be able to implement in their writing.
The use of technology will be evident when students use the keyboard case to research interesting topics and/or type their writing.
With these supplies, my students will be able to create amazing work over the course of this school year. Thank you for your help and support.
