Our kindergarten is located in a unique and diverse urban setting in northern New Jersey. This community strives to help all learners meet their potential regardless of their backgrounds. We aim to provide a safe place for students to grow through a variety of methods. Our school is brand new this year and houses the kindergarten students from the district. The school is named after civil right activist and former district teacher, Theodora Smiley Lacey.
The district motto, "That each may learn," reflects this goal and is the hallmark of every classroom and building within the district.
Differentiated instruction and individualized instruction are the keys to achieving in our classrooms!
My Project
As a reading specialist, I work with students to help them become better readers. Part of that work is having students become independent readers. I love to use sound phones with my students so that they can practice reading out loud without distracting the others in the classroom.
During traditional school years, children share handful of sound phones in the classroom.
In light of current events, I cannot have students share the sound phones. Your donation will help me provide a sound phone for each individual student so that they do not have to share, but can learn to read in a safe and healthy environment.
