Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school provides a rigorous college-preparatory education that equips and empowers students for success in college and in life. We welcome all students, including those living with emotional, physical, or other structural disadvantaging factors, such as gender, race, or poverty. We open in 2009 with our first 6th-grade class and graduated our first 12th-grade class in 2016, we expanded our school community to include 3rd, 4th, and 5th- grades. This year we have grown to include Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grades!
Our school seeks to help our students have the best possible learning experience during the coronavirus pandemic.
My Project
Our elementary classes meet one day per week for in-person learning for our blended students. All of our students receive online lessons via Zoom with a teacher and teacher's assistant. Our attendance is high and our students are doing the best they can to learn throughout this challenging time.
Noise-canceling headphones will help our students achieve a successful, peaceful learning environment free from distractions at home while learning virtually during the pandemic.
Some of our student's homes are small with multiple children living in the household. It sometimes seems as if our students are very distracted by the ongoing sounds of other children, family members, televisions, computers, pets, and assorted other loud distractions. These headphones would ensure our students' success and less learning loss.
