This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember what it was like the first time you realized you could make a difference in someones life or change something for the better? I am trying to teach my students that they can make a difference in the world.

I teach in a community where the poverty level is high and my students have very limited experiences that extend past their neighborhood.

My students are English Language Learners. They have a love of learning and are eager to learn, grow, experience, and change the world.

My Project

My students have not only taken an interest in being green, but have started making changes in their lives to help the Earth. They use every inch of their papers, they recycle and have asked about the amount of copies we use in our classroom. A document camera will cut down on more than 50% of our classroom copies and help us save trees. A document camera will also help my students show off their work and be the example their classmates need. My English language learners often need visuals and examples to complete their work. A document camera will allow me to quickly put up good examples of student work. It will build confidence in my classroom in many ways.

My students do not often think they can make a difference in their own lives let alone in the world.

I spend everyday trying to convince them otherwise. I am often saying, "small changes make big differences." Make a difference in my students' lives, help my students change the world and build their confidence.
