My Students
I teach in an Arts-based Elementary School in Queens. My students come from ethnically diverse backgrounds and we use the arts to explore different cultures. We pride ourselves on infusing the arts with the common core curriculum and individualized instruction to further enrich our students' education.
The second-grade team is hoping to cultivate our students' vocabulary and spelling with individualized student dictionaries and individual whiteboards for writing!
My Project
In 2nd grade, it is imperative for students to be able to problem-solve. The materials we are requesting will help our students problem solve in their writing!
By having a personal dictionary and whiteboards we are hoping to bring this autonomy to them in their writing.
Instead of saying "how do you spell" students will have the tools to look up words and even add words to their spelling dictionaries. This will provide differentiation in the classroom as students can add any words they have difficulty with.
Whiteboards are a must in any classroom! Students love using their whiteboards to show ideas, draw, and write. We use them in games, mini-lessons, and small group work. With each student having their own materials we are also looking to keep them safe in these unprecedented times. Help us help our students!
