The gems and minerals collection requested will give my students the opportunity to take a closer look at fossils. Using the collection we will be able to think deeply about how fossils form and the type of environments that contribute to fossil formation. Students will also have the opportunity to use the fossils to think about what fossils teach about the Earth's rocks and history. Being able to handle samples makes a difference to students when they are visualizing large scales of time. We will spend a few periods exploring fossils with this amazing collection.
