This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Students are adapted to doing many things digitally. I want students to move away from computers and technology and to read actual books. I like to use novel studies to help engage my students in reading. I would love to incorporate more novel studies with my whole class this year and in the years to come. The problem is that I do not have a group sets of novels to use with my students for class novel studies.
I am looking for donations to get group sets of A Wrinkle in Time, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and Pippi in the South Seas for my classroom.
Using these novels will help me teach my 5th grade standards such as the point-of-view of the narrator of the story, character traits, cause and effect relationships, and problems and solutions. It will also allow me to help build vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency in reading outside of my district-adopted ELA curriculum
