My Project
My students love to read about characters that look similar to them. Their faces light up when they read a character that has the same struggles as them. It is important for all students to be represented in the literature they are reading.
Diversity in books teaches students empathy and compassion for others. These books will help introduce my students to chapter books. These books are slightly longer, but they still incorporate pictures within the pages. These books are also some of my students' favorite books.
These books will also better help me teach my students how to read. As a young teacher, I don't have a lot of resources that help me learn guided reading skills.
