My Students
I teach fourth grade in a Title I school. My leaders are full of life and always ready to explore and learn. I am a teacher in a low income/high poverty area. Many of my students come from a single parent household and receive free lunch. Because of these challenges these students do not always have the necessary items they need to succeed in school. As a teacher, I can not control these students home life, but I do have a say in what students have at school.
My Project
Have you ever picked up a book and just don't want to read it. Not because it's not a good book, but it looks old and outdated? Well the books my class has access too are old and deal with topics that they are not interested in. With this project I am asking for new guided reading books. What is a guided reading book you may ask? Well it's a book that we read in a small group. These books are on students levels and allow us to practice strategies we have worked on in whole group. With these books I hope that students will get excited about reading and continue to grow academically. Please consider donating to this project!
