This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Remember learning how to read, write and do math problems? I want my first graders to become proficient in all of these areas.

I currently teach 33 very sweet and active first graders in a Title 1 school located in a high poverty and high crime area of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

All of my students qualify to receive free breakfast and free lunch. Many of my students come from homes where English is not spoken. I have 1 Special Education student and 8 ESL (English as a Second Language) students in my classroom.

My Project

My students will be using the handwriting books in order to improve their penmanship. It is very important to learn proper handwriting at a young age. I would love if all of my first graders wrote neatly. I am also hoping to get a variety of paper tablets for my students to write on. I would also like for all of my students to have a First Grade Skills Book. I have gotten 5 new students lately and they do not have this book. Lastly, I would love if my students had a warm up book for math to review their math skills.
