Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Student at our school come from a variety of backgrounds: for example, English as a second language, poverty, working middle class, single parent families, foster care and even homeless. Regardless of background we get along and enjoy learning and growing together. Students know one of the keys to success is being able to read. Together we enjoy a multitude of books that stretch our imaginations and grow our thinking. Schools offers opportunities to students that they don’t have at home.

My Project

Third grade begins the transition from learning to read to reading to learn and for pure enjoyment. We are provide with plenty of reading material that encourages learning information. However, reading a good book together for a combination of learning and enjoyment is hard to come by.

By donating to our project my class will be able to enjoy and learn from quality literature.

Students in our school need to be exposed to this literature at school because they lack the resources from home. Using class sets of books will also encourage learning from each other. Love to read and it is one of my yearly goals to pass that love of reading on to my students. Reading these novels together will encourage discussions, critical thinking and enjoyment for the stories. Some titles are The Mouse and the Motorcycle and The World According To Humphrey Book 1.
