My Students

My kindergarten through 2nd-grade students love to come to school everyday and are eager to learn through hands-on, fun activities. My students are in a social/emotional/behavioral program and are learning to articulate their feelings, advocate for themselves, be good friends and make good choices.

Many of my students are English Language Learners, and my classroom is very diverse - which makes us rich in culture and experience.

In our district, more than half of our learners are from low-income families, so I strive to provide as many enriching learning opportunities as possible for every student. I use as many ways as I can to engage my students in learning every concept so that I can reach every learner in the way they learn best.

My Project

This project is the 3rd project in a series of literacy projects I have posted. The first one, "Please Read to Us, Ms. Lisa," is for read-aloud books for our class storytime. The second project, "You Read to Us, Now We'll Read to You, Ms. Lisa," is for leveled readers for independent reading time in which I will sometimes sit with students and they will read their book of choice to me.

My students love having a book in their hands and being able to read together with me.

I would love to be able to give them the gift of all having the same book to read, so they can all follow along together. One-half of my students are English Language Learners, and these BOB books are perfect readers to go alongside our other phonics instruction.
