Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My fourth grade students are very loving, caring, and curious. They love being engaged in the classroom and truly appreciate all things donated to the classroom. In addition, these curious fourth graders love learning! My students come from a very low socioeconomic background and do not have the access to technology.
Our school is 100% free breakfast and lunch.
We have the highest rate of ELL (English language learners) in the state and a high number of special education students.
My Project
The students need books on multiple reading levels for small group, literature circles, and the classroom library. The assortment of fiction and nonfiction books will help increase students reading fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. The students also have a love for nonfiction books.
The nonfiction books about American presidents are high interest books and will help increase reading stamina and create stronger readers.
Charlotte's Web is a great book for the students to read to help build upon vocabulary. Many of the students have seen the movie so it helps build upon compare and contrast strategies. The students will love these new additions to our small groups, literature circles, and classroom library.
