Help me give my students a classroom library with a cozy vibe of having a rug to lie on! I also included a vacuum cleaner so I can keep the rug clean and inviting!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are from P.S. 89x. They come from various economic backgrounds. I have some students who have limited resources, living in shelters and do not have the means to visit libraries or have access to computers at home to help with research.
Now, with the pandemic it makes it really difficult for students to even go to the library.
However, what I love about this age group is that they still have a love for learning and have inquisitive minds and just want to know more by reading! I have students of various reading levels and our school library is not accessible for students to borrow books. Students have difficulty accessing books they love online. Most reading websites require a paid membership, a working device and WiFi. Some students have issues with all three, which prevents them from finding a book/ text to read.
My classroom library needs a variety of genres with different levels. I would like a bigger classroom library, wide range of levels with many books of interesting topics.
My Project
The books that are on my wish list will help my students be engaged and form a love in reading. There are limited resources for my students to access books of their interests, at their own levels. My students need books that are available to them. Being that we are in a pandemic, libraries are limited and many students are having difficulty accessing online websites. Many websites require a paid membership and WiFi, which some students don't have access to. These books will make a difference to my students! Please help me if you can!
