Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Remember how much fun it was to listen to your teacher reading you a book? Well, since the use of electronic devices is so widespread in schools there is not as much time for kids to just sit on a comfortable carpet and read a story.
My students are first generation Americans and come from struggling families.
The children love to go to school and are eager to learn. They love to read books and will benefit from having these 2 books that they love. They can take the books home and read them to their families.
I would like to give them the same opportunities that every other child has and give them the resources they need to succeed in reading.
The children need their own books to improve their reading and speaking skills. We can sit in circles and have great discussions on the books, such as their favorite part, and make text to self connections. Discussions about the books also teach the students to be good partners and learn how to take turns while communicating with peers. The children will be more engaged and eager to learn reading with a new carpet.
Reading is such an important part of life that I would like the kids to get a great foundation of learning in kindergarten.
