Let's Read Big Books Together! an Easel Not My Lap!
Help me give my students a great interactive big book experience with this storage easel. Having an easel instead of my lap would mean greater interaction using post it notes and student led reading to support reading/comprehension.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are primarily English as a second language learners. Some of my students only get to be here about 5 school months of the year as we have a large number of migrant families we are able to service here. I try to pack as much impactful learning as possible into the time I have with them. They are all eager to learn and love getting up and owning their hard earned success of learning how to read, understanding new information, and claiming what they know!
The use of the big book easel would free up my hands to give or write on post it notes for a more interactive experience for learning new ideas and information through our big books.
I have big books for identifying letters, shapes, numbers, words, and wonderful information about science and imagination. Through these stories my kindergartners would be able not to just learn about nouns, but to get a post it note and show ownership with their name on it. Or they can write a question or ask for clarification through these notes. The smiles on their faces when the light bulb goes off is incredible and we love to celebrate these milestones.
By donating to our project goal, I hope to have even greater success with teaching English, math and science to my students by creating a less hectic environment of dropping my big books from my lap and hands and concentrating more on getting the notes and putting them on the books to celebrate successes of our learners.
