My Project

As a first year teacher, I work hard to enhance my students' learning daily, with limited supplies. My goals are to get organized and complete my students' reading corner.

While I was provided with a couple of filing cabinets, they are old, empty and difficult to open and close.

I would like one new cabinet to put next to my standing desk as I do not have any drawers and the small cabinet I have does not open and close easily. I also need hanging file folders to put in my larger filing cabinet and I need lots of folders. Currently, I feel very disorganized and I am really excited to update my filing system. This will enhance the learning environment for my students since I will be able to quickly and easily access the resources I need. Students will no longer see me struggling to open drawers.

Additionally, I have created a reading corner in my classroom that is a special area students are able to sit and read when they have completed all of their assignments. My students consider this reading space a reward and they are so happy when they get to sit and read a good book. I currently have two older bean bags and am looking to add two more so that up to four students can sit in this space at the same time. My students have a lot of gratitude and I know they will greatly appreciate these chairs. Lastly, I have added a digital clock to my wish list as I currently have an old classroom clock that is difficult for students to see.
