My Students
My students range in age from 5-13. I am our school's reading intervention teacher and I teach all grade levels from K-5 each day. My students are identified as the most in need of intervention to be successful! They need to be given a reason to LOVE reading!
They love to learn about new things and to read about doing things they have never had the opportunity to do.
We are a Title I school. We have about 95 percent of our students that are on the free or reduced lunch program. Many come from economically disadvantaged families with one parent homes or raised by other family members.
My Project
By using engaging texts that are on their individual reading levels, my students will be excited to read! Seeing real photographs in these magazines automatically give them a connection to the text. By using these magazines, the students are able to relate to the world.
The topics covered are relevant to the world around us and really help the students to experience the world around them without ever leaving the classroom.
Using these magazines in the past has proven that the students love to see what is happening around us and they are often eager to continue learning long after the reading has been completed.
