My Students
We are a class of Third Grade students at an Academy for Advanced Learners. We love reading novels as a whole class and have a 30 Book Challenge where we are reading many books of different genres this year. Our group of students is a diverse group with a wealth of experiences and opportunities at our fingertips!
This book will help support our 30 Book Challenge and be a fun and meaningful novel to read in class together!
Thank you so much.
My Project
These books will be a main unit focus for our "Cheese" study and Literature Unit. It is a classic story written by Jean Van Leeuwen that will become a meaningful and memorable story to my class of Third Graders. The book highlights a group of mice who go on an adventure in the name of good v. bad. The story will help kids understand character development, plot, setting and also making inferences and text connections with their reading, and be a springboard for writing their own adventure narratives. We connect this literature through the disciplines in Science: how cheese is made; Social Studies: the timeline and history of cheese; math: fractions. We will taste cheese and write about that as well!
We are so excited to read this book in our classroom!
