Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every child has a natural curiosity about their own shadow and why it changes. By using sundials we can study the properties of the Sun, including how shadows form and the position of the Sun relative to Earth. This kit would provide my students more opportunities to learn about the Sun!

My students are amazing young people who are very inquisitive when it comes to the world around them.

We are a low socio-economic school so these kids have not had many life experiences outside their community. They love Science and love doing outdoor investigations.

My Project

Every kid wonders about their shadow. Most kids don't understand the concepts of rotation and revolution. These sun dials would really help us investigate outdoors and learn about how the Sun moves across the sky. The kit also has other lessons on weather and properties of the Sun that we can explore more in depth.

All kids need the opportunity to explore and discover the world around them.

In my classroom, I encourage students to ask questions, research them, and they get so excited when they learn something on their own. This kit will really give them those "aahhaaa" moments every child deserves.
