it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The students in my large first grade reading group are ready for early chapter books. The Pinky and Rex series is great for learning about character traits, problem-solving, and how to be a good friend. It is appealing to both boys and girls, and has just the right amount of text and illustrations on the page for these budding readers. Our school has limited resources, and most books we have for first grade are phonics-based decodables, which do not have the same richness of vocabulary or comprehension as these leveled readers.
In my experience, when kids get hooked on a series, they want to read them all!
That is why I have requested a set of book one, and then one more set in the series, along with one individual book that will further interest them.
